FAQ

Where to fly into?
El Dorado International Airport in Bogota is the largest airport in Colombia. Several airlines from different destinations in the Americas and Europe arrive there. The airport is about 40 minutes from the areas we recommend for staying in Bogotá and about an hour and a half from Cajicá depending on the traffic.

Where should I stay?
Whether you stay in Bogotá or Cajicá is up to you. We recommend several hotels in Bogotá, where there's plenty to explore. However, if you'd like to avoid Saturday morning traffic heading to Cajicá, a good option is to stay there just from Friday to Sunday. That said, you can stay in Bogotá the entire time if you prefer, as buses will depart on Saturday to the venue.

How to get around Bogotá?
Bogotá is a large city, and, as with many major cities around the world, it's best to get around with caution. We mainly recommend using Uber or, alternatively, booking a taxi in advance through reliable apps like Taxis Libres or Cabify. It's not advisable to hail taxis directly on the street.

What’s the local currency like?
In Colombia, we use the Colombian peso. Like many currencies around the world, its value fluctuates constantly, but currently, 1 US dollar is equivalent to approximately 4,200 pesos (so it’s time to use those school math skills). You can generally pay for almost everything with a card. Still, we recommend carrying at least 50,000 pesos in cash, just in case.

What’s the weather like in Bogotá and Cajicá?
The weather in Bogotá typically ranges between 50 to 66 degrees Fahrenheit (10 and 19 degrees Celsius)  throughout the year, with mornings and evenings colder than the daytime. I think it’s colder than most people expect, so I recommend bringing light jackets, especially for the evenings. August is known as the windy month, and you’ll notice it: there will be lots of kites in the sky, which can also make the weather feel a bit chillier

Altitude sickness?
In Bogotá, we call altitude sickness soroche. As you may know, the city is located 8,700 feet (2,650 meters) above sea level. Hence, the oxygen level differs from what many people are used to. Upon arrival, you might feel a bit tired or get a headache. We recommend resting a little after landing, drinking water, and eating something light.

How do I get to Cajicá on the day of the wedding?
Buses will depart from the JW Marriott Hotel and the EK Hotel in Bogota at noon. If, for some reason, you miss the bus, it’s also possible to get there by Uber. Depending on traffic, travel time can range from 50 minutes to an hour and a half.

How do I get back to Bogotá?
Buses will be leaving back to Bogotá every hour starting at midnight.

Who is Cuca?
If you know, you know.
